Getting to Orcas Island

To reach the Anacortes ferry dock from Seattle, take Interstate Highway 5 north to the town of Mt. Vernon. Go west on Highway 20 and follow the signs through the town of Anacortes to the San Juan Islands ferry terminal. The ferry schedule changes from time to time, so it is best to contact the Washington State Ferry (WSF) System (or call them at 1-800-84-FERRY) for the current schedule and their recommended arrival time at the dock.

WSF now takes ferry reservations! Traffic volumes vary greatly so make your reservation well in advance. Schedule your ferry reservation now. Don’t forget to make a reservation both ways! Once on board, relax, enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, and watch for Orca whales, bald eagles, seals, sea otters, and Dall porpoises.

Getting to Buckhorn Farm

From the Orcas ferry landing, turn left onto the Horseshoe Highway and follow the main road eight miles to the town of Eastsound. The highway will continue straight ahead, but here you will turn right into town. Go straight through the town, staying on the main drag. At the far end of town, you will go up a slight hill, then drive along a crescent-shaped beach. As you drive along the beach, you'll pass a gold house on the left with kayaks in the yard. When you reach the stop sign, take a left.

After turning left, drive for about a mile. The highway will make a hard left, but you will want to veer to the right onto Terrills Beach Road.

About 1/4 mile down Terrills Beach Road, turn right onto Buckhorn Road. About 200 yards down you will see Jensen Road and three large mail boxes on the right. You're here!

Pull in the driveway and veer to the left. The Bungalow is an orange colored house that will be right in front of you. Occasionally, we may not be home when you arrive. Feel free to park close to the Bungalow--the smaller of the two buildings on the farm--and make yourself at home. The door will be open. When we return, we'll stop over to make sure everything is okay.
